STEWARDSHIP

With the introduction of non-native invasive species in our environment and fluctuating access to natural resources, stewards are needed to steer healthy garden spaces to thrive.

Stewardship

At Planted Green, maintaining a healthy ecosystem requires a human eye and hand. We watch for invasive species, aggressive self seeders and make adjustments for native plants to continue in designed spaces as intended. Stewardship includes weeding, pinching back dead blooms, pruning, transplanting or adding new plants.

Tending to your garden is an act of taking care and supervising the organization of the intentional space that’s been designed and installed for your unique site. It is an honor to nurture your landscape, therefore we think of traditional maintenance as an act of stewardship. This level of service is paramount to your garden’s health and wellbeing, as well as to your investment.

Keep it GREEN

All stewardship practices with Planted Green are a modern take on garden maintenance to reduce the environmental impact caused by gas powered tools. Manual hand tools are used to weed, prune, and edge. All garden debris are composted. In spaces that have rain barrels, reclaimed water is used to feed non-edible gardens.

Spring and Fall Cleaning

Traditional garden practices take a backseat when it comes to how Planted Green awakens a garden after winter and puts it to sleep in autumn. Schedule a visit for us to tend to your garden in a way that promotes best practices for the environment.

Some examples of this include:

  • Leaf mulching

  • Strategic edits to plants that provide food and habitat to wildlife

  • Hand cutting weeds to foster soil health

  • Removing non-native invasive species

  • Incorporating spring cutbacks into mulching

“We abuse land because we see it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”
